Green Diagonal Line

If you're using subtitles with the videos you're watching specially movies, some of you must have come across this problem, a green diagonal line appearing across the screen/video and this is really annoying.
I faced this few times so i thought of writing about it since there isn't much help regarding this problem on the net. The reason is your subtitles, if you simply remove your subtitles file you won't get this but whats the point it isn't a solution. so keeping that as the last resort, lets look at the cause of this problem.
The video player basically uses a plug-in called DirectVobSub and some players have this integrated, and green line appears simply because of a bug in the plug-in; but unfortunately for us this cannot be complained, the reason is the website and all the support have been closed down.

So the only possible solution is to update the plug-in, this can be done by replacing the relevant DLL file. The file is named 'VSFilter.dll' depending on the player this could be anywhere. It could be copied into your system files folders such as "%systemroot%" or "%systemroot%\system32" (type this in RUN without the quotations) otherwise it should be in your player's folder. The best method i suggest is that you perform a search for the file name.

Once the file has been located goto this link and download the latest package. Inside you'll find a folder called 'Release' under that you should find the 'VSFilter.dll' file. Replace this with your existing one and if your file was located in the systems folder then type the following command in RUN.

"regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\vsfilter.dll" please change the path to where it is located in your computer.

Otherwise if it is located in the player's folder such as under 'program files' then just replace the file no need to execute the above command.

This should basically solve your problem, if it doesn't im sorry i can't help. Then i suggest you remove the subtitles file and watch :P

Yeah I had this problem when I watched Miami Vice, I solved it by downloading a separate subtitle player, which solved my problems... Thanks for the info...
